BNP to lay siege to DC offices Thursday

BNP will lay siege to the deputy commissioners' offices across the country on Thursday protesting what the party said "vote rigging and attacks on activists of 19-party alliance by ruling Awami League men" during third phase of upazila parishad elections.

The BNP-led 19-party combine also threatened to launch a tougher movement if the government does not bridled the practices of vote rigging and oppression on its activists in the upcoming upazila parishad elections scheduled to be held on March 23, said BNP joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed.

He was addressing a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan central office today.

The March 15 local government election was marred by massive allegation of vote rigging, stuffing ballot boxes and violence.

Showing muscle power, the ruling AL men cast false votes and committed massive vote rigging during the recently past upazila parishad polls, he said.

The ruling party men also snatched the victory of 19-party by committing such types of crimes, Rizvi added.
