BNP standing body meets

The BNP standing committee last night sat in a meeting to discuss country's latest political situation and to decide the party's next course of action.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia chaired the meeting held at her Gulshan office.
Talking to The Daily Star, a member of the standing committee, the highest policy-making body of the party, said the current law and order situation, specially after the seven murders in Narayanganj, and restructuring of the Dhaka city unit BNP were discussed at the meeting, among other issues.
“We want to take political mileage by using the Narayanganj incident. We want to launch a campaign against the government's total failure to ensure the law and order in the country,” he added.
He said the meeting also discussed the BNP-led 19-party alliance's next course of action to realize its demand for holding a fresh national election under a non-party administration soon.
The last meeting of the BNP standing committee was held on April 9.
