Law enforcers picked up Shamimur Rahman Shamim, an assistant office secretary of BNP, at Dhanmondi in Dhaka this afternoon.
A joint team of plainclothes police and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained him from Shankar Bus Stand around 5:00pm, Shamsuddin Didar, a staff of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s media wing, told The Daily Star.
Meanwhile, Detectives picked up Ahsan Habib Lincon, a presidium member of Kazi Zafar Ahmed-led Jatiya Party, from Dhanmondi area in Dhaka around 6:30pm.
The Detective Branch of police later took him to its Mintoo Road office, Golam Mostafa, press secretary of the party, told The Daily Star.
The JP faction is now a component of the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
