BNP high-ups meet tonight

BNP standing committee members met tonight to discuss the country’s current political situation.

The meeting started around 8:00pm and was still continuing till 9:50pm.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is expected to chair the meeting urgently called at 8:00pm at her Gulshan office in the capital, Shamimur Rahman Shamim, an assistant office secretary of the party, told The Daily Star.

Among other topics, the party's next course of action may come up for discussion during the meeting, BNP insiders said.

This is the first meeting of the standing committee, the highest policymaking body of the party, in over three months. The last meeting was held on October 29.
