Beware of 'clay phone'

In many parts of Dhaka, you may have come across scamsters or junkies trying to allure you with glossy mobile phone sets at unbelievably cheap prices. Hold on, you might want to curb your greed after reading this.

A bank cleric's eyes got glued on some cellphone sets displayed on a footpath at Farmgate. The peddler gave him a display, the phone was working. And a Tk-500 deal made him so excited that the man paid the money quickly and started walking off. One thing he forgot to do - checking whether he received the real phone.

Returning home, he tried to power on the phone, and, to his utter dismay, found it was all about some dried clay wrapped in plastic!
