Bengal Foundation to host an Art Talk with Bodhisattwa Trio

At Daily Star-Bengal Arts Precinct

An informal concert and art talk titled “Artists in a material world” by experimental jazz-rock band “The Bodhisattwa Trio”, will be held today at 6 pm at Daily Star-Bengal Arts Precinct, The Daily Star Centre, 64-65, Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, Dhaka.

In this session the musicians will discuss the realities of working as an independent artist in today's world. Throughout the discussion, the Trio will share insights into their creative processes and the many other elements needed to bring their original work to listeners and music lovers. A conversation that will be of interest not just to musicians but all who are creating art today.

The members of “The Bodhisattwa Trio” are- Bodhisattwa Ghosh (Guitars), Premjit Dutta (Drums) and Bijit Bhattacharya (Bass).

The band derives inspiration from musical ideas, musicians, feelings and experiences in Bodhisattwa's life, The trio delivers a mix of original songs.

A run down of the three talented musicians:

Bodhisattwa is essentially a Blues musician who aims to overcome the boundaries of music. He has worked as a guitarist/composer and has been playing in major venues/festivals across the globe and collaborated with reputed musicians from around the world since 2002. Bodhisattwa has been a central part of critically acclaimed Ethno-Jazz band “Kendraka”

Premjit is a 'Sangeet Bisharod' in Tabla from Bangiyo Sangeet Parishad and a grade 8 non-classical scholar under Trinity College, London. Premjit has been teaching drums at few music schools in Kolkata from last 7 years. He also conducts workshops at various institutes and organisations throughout India. He currently plays with Latin Jazz band, “Los Amigos”

Bijit Bhattacharya is on of the most talented bass players in Kolkata, Bijit is actively involved in studio sessions as well as the live music scene. He has been a permanent member of bands like Safire, Catch 22, nationally acclaimed folk-fusion act “Friends of Fusion”, Nukkad Salsa Project, Crayon Joint and much more. Bijit is currently making music with “The Bodhisattwa Trio”, Electronic/Alternative band “Zoo”, “Bee & the Buskers” and folk fusion act “Charon”.
