Anjan Roy, BCL vice president of Sust unit, said they had withdrawn their programme after assurance from the VC.
He added that the authorities had selected “unqualified Shibir men” as teachers dropping meritorious candidates.
Contacted, on condition of anonymity, a syndicate member said the issue of appointments was dropped from the yesterday's meeting agendas following the agitation.
The selection of the six teachers was done maintaining due process, he said, adding that some teachers of the university had played a role behind the BCL agitation as their chosen candidates were not selected.
