Seven “Shibir activists” of Rajshahi New Government Degree College unit were injured in an attack allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League men on the campus early yesterday.
Stabbed and beat up at their dormitory, Kazi Tarif Hossain, Nazmul Huda, Ezaz Ahmed, Zafar Imam, Monirul Islam, Ismail Hossain and Cornel were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, said Rajpara police Officer-in-Charge Khan Mohammad Erfan.
Rajshahi city Shibir Publicity Secretary M Asaduzzaman claimed that some 20 BCL activists attacked the dormitory around 1:30am in presence of the superintendent.
Denying the allegation, the city BCL President Shafikuzzaman said two student groups were involved in it.
Equipped with sticks, knives and rods, the attackers broke open the doors of six rooms, said the injured.
Hostel superintendent Azizur Rahman told The Daily Star that the attackers entered by breaking the lock of a backside door.
He was scared as the miscreants showed him blood-stained knives, he said, adding that he informed police of the matter.
