Timeline: Barisal city polls

8:00am - voting begins

8:40am - BNP mayor candidate casts vote at Sayeda Mazedunnesa Secondary School polling centre

             - Rival party youths try to enter the poling centre by force, police stop them, but the youths forced the voters at the centre to leave the place without casting their votes

9:40am - Manisha Chakraborty, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal's mayoral candidate of Barisal City Corporation, and her supporters claimed that some people "wearing badges of boat" snatched ballot papers from a polling centre.

11:25am - Islami Andolan Bangladesh's candidate for Barisal City Corporation, Obaidur Rahman, has boycotted the city elections with complaints of widespread vote rigging and manipulation by the ruling party.

12:00pm - BNP's candidate for Barisal City Corporation, Mujibur Rahman Sarwar has boycotted the city elections with complaints of widespread vote rigging and manipulation.

12:30pm - Voting was suspended at Barishal City College centre in Barisal after allegations of vote rigging around 12:30pm.

                - Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal candidate Manisha Chakrabarty and Jatiya Party candidate Md Iqbal Hossain have urged the returning officer to suspend the polls bringing vote rigging allegations.

1:00pm Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) candidate Abul Kalam Azad also alleged about the similar incidents of vote manipulation and boycotted the polls. 

4:00pm - Voting ended in Barishal City Corporation election amid allegations of vote rigging and irregularities.

7:30pm- Polls suspended at 15 centres, says Returning Officer Mujibur Rahman

9:30pm- AL ahead in the polls based on the results so far
