Uniform admission test: 4 engineering universities divided over exam site

Four public engineering universities are divided over holding uniform admission test on the question of where the exam would be held.

They are yet to reach a consensus over which university's representative will be the chair of the admission test conducting committee.

The difference of opinion surfaced in a virtual meeting between top officials of four universities and the University Grants Commission (UGC) today.

The universities are: Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet), Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet), Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet).

Buet authorities said that their representative would always be chairman of the admission test committee and the exams should be held at Buet campus only, said a UGC statement.

Buet Pro-vice chancellor informed the meeting that they would come up with their final decision to this end within a week after holding an urgent academic committee meeting.

The authorities of Ruet, Cuet, and Kuet proposed to nominate the chairman and test centres gradually following alphabetic order, the release said.

Earlier the four universities had agreed to join the uniform admission test titled "Central Admission Test".
