UNGA president to meet PM tomorrow

President of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Volkan Bozkır is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tomorrow to discuss global issues, including the Rohingyas.

He will arrive in Dhaka at 5:00am tomorrow on a brief visit. Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen will receive him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Bozkır will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her Gono Bhaban residence at 10:30 am before he meets with Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen which will be held at 12:30pm, according to a senior official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The UNGA president will visit Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday before heading for Pakistan.

"Looking forward to my upcoming official visit to Bangladesh and Pakistan on May 25-27 to discuss the multilateral system and shared challenges," Bozkır tweeted.

The UNGA president will also deliver a speech at the Foreign Services Academy, said the UN office in Dhaka. His speech will address the current international context -- with a focus on global crises and emergencies -- and reflect on the state of multilateralism and the United Nations system.
