Law to secure journalists’ jobs at final stage of approval: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today told the parliament that journalists of both print and electronic media face uncertainty regarding their jobs, which is a threat for free media.

In reply to a tabled question from Awami League MP Shahiduzzaman Sarker of Naogaon-2, the premier informed the House that Information and Broadcasting Ministry is going to enact a law to remove this uncertainty, which is at the final stage of approval.  

Sheikh Hasina also told the parliament that her government has taken the decision to give 45 percent dearness allowance to all print media workers in the country.
