Khaleda Zia's condition is stable but she is yet to recover fully, said her physician and member of the medical team formed for her treatment, Dr FM Siddique.

The physician informed of the latest condition of the BNP Chairperson after she returned to her Gulshan residence last night.

"Alhamdulillah, she (Khaleda Zia) is stable. It does not mean that she has completely recovered," he said.

"The skilled Evercare Hospital medical team, doctors from abroad and we kept her under close observation, and we will continue treatment keeping her at home for the time being," he added.

Giving explanation, Dr Siddique said, "The condition of her heart, kidneys and liver took a turn for the worse due to Covid-19, but with treatment the situation has improved. The ailments, however, remain."

"We are yet to fully address those ailments," he said, adding that she might need a follow up from hospital after two or three weeks.

Dr Siddique said the complications which she has are primary diseases. "To address this, the medical board has taken some decisions."

Asked, whether advanced treatment of Khaleda is possible in the country, Dr Siddique said they were able to control some complications to a certain level by continuing her treatment.

For better assessment of her liver condition, artificial liver support and other advanced technology need to be applied which is not possible in the country, he said.

"We have mentioned this in our report," he said.

After almost two months of treatment at Evercare Hospital, Khaleda Zia returned home at 8:00pm last night.
