Hefajat-e Islam Amir Junayed Babunagari today demanded unconditional release of all "Ulema-Masayek" of Hefajat and all its leaders, including the party's joint secretary general Mamunul Haque and organising secretary Azizul Haque Islamabadi, who had been arrested in the last few days.

In a video message, the Hefajat chief also demanded that the government stop filing "false" cases against its leaders, and cease from harassing and arresting them.

Babunagari claimed some vested quarters are spreading propaganda that Hefajat-e Islam is involved in bringing a political party to power.

He also requested the government and the country's people not to pay heed to this propaganda, terming it a "blatant lie".

Saying that although there is no proof that Hefajat has any links to any political parties, Babunagari said even then Hefajat leaders, students and Alem-Ulema are bring arrested indiscriminately.

"What kind of oppression is this. A country cannot be run in this way," he said.

Babunagari said the cases filed in 2013 under which the Hefajat leaders are being shown arrested are totally false.

The Hefajat amir said they had no programme either at Hathazari or at Brahmanbaria over the visit of Indian Prime Minister Natarndra Modi in March 26.

"Hefajat's aim is not to bring any political party to power or to force any political party to step down from power. Our aim is to establish the agenda of Muhammad (PBUH) in the land of Allah," he said.

"We don't want anarchy, unrest and militancy," Babunagari also said.

At the end of his around 20-minute long video message, Babunagari sought the blessings of and happiness for the government, the administration and the country's people.
