Disappearance of Abu Taw Haa: wife demands safe return of Islamic preacher

As young Islamic preacher Abu Taw Haa Muhammad Adnan along with three others remain missing for six days, his wife today urged the authorities to take steps for their immediate safe return.

"I'm not doing well physically and mentally. I don't know what to say at this press conference… What I want is my husband's safe return," Sabikunnahar made an emotional appeal at Dhaka Reporters' Unity.

She sought Prime Minister's intervention to direct the law enforcers to trace his husband and three others immediately.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan at a programme in Gazipur today said he has heard about Abu Taw Haa going missing and law enforcers are looking into the matter with importance.

At the press conference, Sabikunnahar claimed her husband is innocent and does not belong to any political party.

"Yet, if he commits any crime, please show him arrested and try him under the existing law… I just want to know his whereabouts," she appealed.

"At least, let us know where and how he is now. I request all of you to help us," she said in a choked voice.

Sabikunnahar said she sent letters to the Prime Ministers' Office and Rab headquarters in this regard.

Abu Taw Haa, his driver and two companions have been missing since June 10. They were on their way to Dhaka from Rangpur.

Sabikunnahar said, "My husband, on his way to Dhaka, told me that two motorcycles were following him and asked me to pray for his safe return… We don't know of his whereabouts since then."

The family earlier said they could communicate with Abu Taw Haa over WhatsApp when he shared location that showed he was in Dhaka's Gabtoli at that time.

When Abu Taw Haa's wife was speaking at the press conference, his followers formed a human chain in front of Dhaka Reporters' Unity with the same demand.
