Burnt body of 15-year-old worker recovered after fire in Bagerhat bakery

Police today recovered the burnt body of a worker from a bakery that caught fire in Nager Bazar of Bagerhat town last night.

The deceased was identified as Azim Sheikh (15) of Kondala village under Bagerhat Sadar upazila, reports our Bagerhat correspondent quoting police.

"We went to the spot after learning about the fire. We searched the factory after dousing the fire and recovered the body of the boy. The body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for an autopsy," said Bagerhat Additional Superintendent of Police Mir Shafin Mahmud.

Earlier, a fire broke out at Sumon Bakery owned by Ramesh Saha in the Kachuapatti area of the town around 10:00 pm yesterday.

Members of the Red Crescent, police, and two units of the fire service brought the fire under control after two hours of effort.

"There was a motor next to a wooden log room on the first floor of the bakery. The fire broke out there due to a short circuit," said Golam Sarwar, deputy assistant director of the Bagerhat Fire Service and Civil Defense Station.

Sumon, the owner's son, claimed damages are worth Tk 30-35 lakh.
