Bangladesh nominated FAO member from Asia region

Also chosen as credential committee member

Bangladesh has been nominated as the member of Food and Agricultural Organization from Asia region for three years from 2022.

The country has also been chosen as a member of the credential committee of FAO, according to a press release issued by the agricultural ministry today.

The decisions were taken during the 42nd ongoing conference of FAO. The conference, being held virtually this year due to Covid-19 pandemic, began on June 14 and is scheduled to end today.

An eight-member delegation led by Agricultural Minister Mohammad Abdur Razzaque is taking part in the conference on behalf of Bangladesh. The delegation includes Senior Secretary Md Mesbahul Islam, Additional Secretary Md Ruhul Amin Talukdar, Joint Secretary Tajkera Khatun, Deputy Secretary Ali Akbar of agricultural ministry and Deputy Secretary Bidhan Boral of Economic Relations Division, added the press release.

Bangladesh was able to earn the honour due to the joint efforts of the delegation under the leadership of agriculture minister and Bangladesh Embassy in Rome, stated the release.

This honour reflects the faith of international community on the Bangladesh government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the release also reads.
