The second consignment of six lakh Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine doses reached Dhaka this afternoon.

The vaccines reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 5:30pm, Md Shamsul Haque, line director of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), told The Daily Star.

Earlier, two aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force left China with the 6 lakh Sinopharm shots this morning.

The planes left Beijing International Airport for Bangladesh around 10:00am (Bangladesh time), said an ISPR press release.

China is giving this second consignment of Covid-19 vaccines as gifts to Bangladesh.

On May 12, Bangladesh received a gift of five lakh Sinopharm doses from China. The government has already started administering those to medical students on a priority basis.
