3 killed in Mymensingh road accident

Three people were killed in a road accident today at Lobonkotha area of Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, reports our local correspondent quoting police.

The deceased are truck driver Shah Alam Gazi (57) and helpers Robiul Majhi (25) and Rabbi Mia (24).

Quoting locals, Sub-inspector of Bhoraduba highway police in Bhaluka, Ziaul Haque, said that the accident took place when a Mymensingh bound covered van hit a parked truck from behind. The truck driver and helpers were replacing a punctured tyre.

Shah Alam and Robiul died on the spot, Ziaul said, adding that critically injured Rabbi was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

The covered van driver fled the scene, said the SI, adding that all bodies were handed over to the family members. A case was also lodged.
