3 dead in Cumilla road accident

Three people were killed and 15 were injured in a road accident in Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla this morning.

Sub-inspector Md Ayiub of Mia Bazar highway police outpost, said a Dhaka-bound container trailer collided with a truck parked by a road at Atgram around 10:50am and ploughed into a road-side restaurant after hitting a motorcycle.

The truck overturned on the spot due to the collision, our Cumilla correspondent reports quoting the SI.

The deceased were identified as container trailer driver Peyar Ahmed (37), helper Alamgir Hossain (35) and the motorcycle rider, aged around 35, whose identity could not be known immediately.

According to the highway police, the trailer driver and helper died on the spot and the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at Cumilla Medical College Hospital.

The 15 injured were rescued from the restaurant and sent to Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex and Cumilla Medical College Hospital.

The highway police seized both the vehicles and took those to the police outpost.
