2 killed, 10 injured as bus hits truck on Bangabandhu bridge

Two people were killed and 10 others injured as a bus hit a truck on Bangabandhu Bridge in Sirajganj side early today.

Movement of north-bound transport remained suspended for an hour due to the accident, creating traffic jam on both sides of the bridge, said Md Mosaddek Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge (West Zone) Police Station.

The deceased are Mojnu Miah (33) and Md Nazrul Islam (35) from Goyadari of Dimla in Nilphamari district, reports our Pabna correspondent quoting police.

OC Md Mosaddek said the accident happened near pillar number 18 around 3:00am today when a north-bound bus of Shyamoli Paribahan hit the truck on the same direction.

Two people traveling on the truck died on the spot while 10 others were injured, the OC said.

Transport movement became normal after police and fire fighters rushed to the spot and removed the bus and truck from the bridge, the OC said.
