2 dead in separate road accidents in Savar

Two people died in separate road accidents in Savar earlier today.

The deceased are Joynul Abedin (45) and Asiya Begum (20), reports our Savar correspondent quoting police.

Savar Highway Police Sub-Inspector (SI), Mozammel Haque said, a truck carrying rods overturned in front of Savar's Rajalakh Farm on Dhaka-Aricha highway this morning. The helper of the truck driver, Joynul Abedin, died on the spot. The body of the deceased was recovered and brought to Savar Highway Police Station.

Also in Savar, Asiya Begum died after being hit by an unidentified truck. Asiya used to work in a garment factory in Dhamrai, said Mozammel, adding that the truck fled from the scene and police are trying to identify the vehicle.

Mozammel also said that accidents are constantly happening in Savar due to potholes in roads and highways, created during the development work of Dhaka-Aricha highway. In the last few days, five road accidents have taken place in front of Savar's Rajalakh Farm.
