235 polling centres in Madaripur ‘vulnerable’

Madaripur district administration has identified 235 polling centres out of total 376 “vulnerable” in three constituencies of the district.

Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer of Madaripur Md Wahidul Islam said the administration has taken all necessary steps to tackle any untoward incident in the polling centres during the election.

Talking to The Daily Star, he said more than 1,000 law enforcers including police and Rab members and army personnel will work to keep the law and order situation under control.

Besides, the chief judicial magistrate will work for holding summary trail and 19 executive magistrates will conduct mobile courts against the election-related offences, he said.

He said more 8.5 lakh people had registered as voters in three constituencies in Madaripur where thirteen candidates are contesting the election.

He hoped that the polling will be held in a very peaceful and fair manner.

The main contest will be held among the top candidates of ruling Awami League and BNP in the district.
