Yaba trader killed by rivals

Police say

A yaba trader was killed in Cox’s Bazar yesterday by his rivals, police said.

Two men barged the home of Md Ismail, 25, in West Pankhali village under Hnila union of Teknaf upazila around 7:00am, said the victim’s brother Hafez Ibrahim.

“Abdur Rahman and Md Selim came from Shikdarpara by motorcycle. They stabbed Ismail indiscriminately and left,” Ibrahim told this correspondent, adding that Ismail was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital.

Citing information gathered through primary investigation, Teknaf police OC Pradip Kumar Das said Ismail was killed because of enmity prevailing among yaba traders in the area.

“It was for establishing supremacy in the business of the contraband drug. We will investigate more and arrest the perpetrators who have already been identified.”
