Thrice MP Aslamul Hoque no more

Aslamul Hoque, the lawmaker of Dhaka-14, breathed his last at a city hospital yesterday. He was 61.

The Member of Parliament was elected three times in a row with the ruling Awami League nomination from his constituency.

Aslamul, also the vice-president of Dhaka City North AL, was taken to the hospital after he suddenly fell sick. He died around 11:00am.

On December 29, 2008, he was elected Member of Parliament for the first time. He was also elected MP from the same constituency in 2014 and 2018.

He served as a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, other ministers, and leaders of different political parties have expressed deep shock and sorrow at the demise.

In a condolence message, the prime minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Planning Minister MA Mannan, Health Minister Zahid Maleque, Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud, Law Minister Anisul Huq, among others also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Aslamul Hoque.

In separate messages, they said Aslamul would be remembered for his welfare activities.
