Teenager dies in gun accident

A teenager was killed as a bullet was fired mistakenly from a gun of some hunters in Lohagara upazila on Wednesday evening.

The victim's family filed a case with Lohagara Police Station on Thursday.

The dead is Maruful Islam, 12, son of Mohammad Forkan, of Lohagara's Jadimura village.

Jakir Hossain Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Lohagara Police Station, told The Daily Star that the incident happened around 7:00pm when the hunters were preparing their firearms for going into hunting in Chunati Wildlife Sanctuary.

Their firearms were hidden under haystack of the victim's house, he said.

He added that a bullet was fired from a firearm mistakenly and hit Maruf, who was sitting on the verandah of his house, leaving him dead on spot.
