Star wins bronze at SA Digital Media Awards 2019

The Daily Star has won bronze prize in "Best in Social Media Engagement" category of the prestigious South Asian Digital Media Awards 2019.

WAN-IFRA, world association of newspapers and news publishers, gave the award in Delhi on Tuesday.

The Daily Star was awarded for its "Bangladesh in World Cup" campaign which was a joint initiative with Polar Ice Cream.

The campaign was designated to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2018 and provided readers with a platform to showcase their love for Team Bangladesh.

Tajdin Hassan, head of marketing at The Daily Star, said the accolade earned from WAN-IFRA was a worthy remuneration for the campaign.

Quazi Almach Hasan, senior brand manager of Polar, said it was a privilege to get the award. "Our heartfelt thanks to The Daily Star," he added.

The Best in Social Media Engagement award of WAN-IFRA is the most notable award for publishers for their outstanding work in digital media.

The awards are presented in almost every region in Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America.

The Daily Star achieved the South Asian Digital Media Award for the third time this year. Earlier, The Daily Star won the award in 2017 and 2018 in Gold and Silver categories respectively.
