Singer Jane Alam passes away

Noted singer Jane Alam passed away yesterday at the Bangaban-dhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital around 10:00pm.

He was 65.

According to Zahirul Islam Sohel, owner of production house CD Choice, Alam was infected with Covid-19 and was under treatment at the hospital for a month.

He also had pneumonia.

As his condition deteriorated yesterday, he was put on life support after which he passed away.

Born in Manikganj's Harirampur, Jane Alam started singing soon after the Liberation War ended.

He gained popularity after his first album, "Bonmali".

The artiste, inspired by Azam Khan, went on to sing 4,000 songs in his career, including hits like "Ekti Gondomer Lagiya", "Ishkul Khuleche", "Amar Antoray",  and "Boishakhe Tomar Shathe" among many others.
