Rohingya couple held with yaba pills, Tk 1.17cr

Rab arrested a Rohingya couple, and seized 5,300 yaba pills and Tk 1.17 crore cash, on Sunday night at a flat in Chandgaon residential area of Chattogram city.

The arrestees are Shawkat Islam, 32, and his wife Morjina, 28.

A Rab-7 team also recovered four fake Bangladeshi national identity (NID) cards, a fake National Birth Registration certificate and six Bangladeshi Mobile SIM cards from the couple.

Rab officials said the couple used the fake NID cards to rent the flat.

Flight Lt Ali Ashraf Tushar, company commander of Rab-7, Chandgaon camp, told The Daily Star that "the couple used to sell yaba pills, smuggled from Cox's Bazar, at their rented flat.
