Rape Charges: Five held in B'baria, two in Gazipur

Police arrested seven suspected rapists, including two brothers, in Brahmanbaria and Gazipur yesterday.

In Brahmanbaria, police arrested Nur Mohammad, 19, Rubel, 20, Md Parvez, 19, Md Hridoy, 19, and Md Shawon, 19, of Kanainagar village after a mother accused them of raping her teenage daughter, said Salauddin Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Banchharampur Police Station.

The mother accused them of forcibly taking her daughter to Kanainagar graveyard and raping her on Tuesday night, the OC said.

Another accused Shakibul Islam Sabuz, 19, has fled the area, the officer added.

In Gazipur, Sujan Miah, 27, and his elder brother Sakhawat Hossain, 30, of Dhanua village in Sreepur upazila were arrested on charges of raping a seventh grader.

Sub-inspector Jahangir Alam of Sreepur Police Station said a girl filed the case with Sreepur Police Station on Tuesday.

The arrestees were sent to jail yesterday.
