Rajshahi cop sued for raping woman

A policeman has been sued for allegedly raping a woman in Natore.

The accused is Mahbubur Rahman, 35, assistant sub-inspector of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, said police.

The victim filed the case against the police officer with Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Natore on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the complaint, the police official works at Kajla Police Outpost under RMP's Motihar Police Station and had developed a relationship with the victim.

On November 6, the police official went to the victim's parents' house and raped her, the statement added.

The victim came to Rajshahi on November 10 and pressurised the accused to marry her but he beat her badly and asked her to keep the day's experience a secret.

The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Natore directed Rab-5 of Rajshahi to investigate the allegations and report to the court.
