Prothom Alo alerts readers to rumour

Bangla daily Prothom Alo in a statement said yesterday that a rumour was being spread on social media that the paper conducted a survey on barrister Mainul Hosein's objectionable comment about female journalist Masuda Bhatti.

According to the so-called survey, 95 percent respondents supported Mainul's comment.

In fact, the paper did not conduct any such survey. So, there is no question of publishing a result of the survey in the newspaper's print or online editions.

The imaginary survey result, being published or shared on social media in the name of the paper, is false, fabricated and baseless. The Prothom Alo has no connection with this, the statement added.
