Protesting JU teachers meet edn minister

Education Minister Dipu Moni yesterday asked a section of Jahangirnagar University teachers to submit a written allegation against the university’s VC Prof Farzana Islam and said steps would be taken if the allegations are proven.

The minister made the remarks when a group of agitating teachers went to her Hare Road residence in the capital, said Prof Rayhan Rhyne, spokesperson of the platform “Jahangirnagar Against Corruption”.

Talking to our JU correspondent last night, Prof Rayhan, a teacher of the university’s Philosophy department, said they welcomed such an assurance from the minister and that they would submit specific allegations against the VC before her.

However, the platform will continue its agitation until effective measures are taken against the VC, he said.

An official of the education ministry also confirmed this newspaper about the meeting.
