PCP man shot dead in Rangamati

A member of  Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP) was shot dead by unknown miscreant around 1:30PM yesterday in Babupara area of Baghaichari upazila in Rangamati.

Deceased Ratan Chakma aliasr Ratna, 22, was the son of  Andha Lal Chakma of  Hirechar village.

He was the organising secretary of PCP's Kachalong Govt College unit.

Police quoting locals said Ratna was having tea at a stall in Babupara area when criminals on a motorcycle arrived at the scene and fired shots at him.

He died on the spot.

In a press release, Pratibhas Chakma, general secretary of PCP, a pro-PCJSS (MN Larma) student body, blamed the Parbattya Chattogram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) for the murder. He also demanded immediate arrest of the killers.

Denying his party's involvement, Tridib Chakma, organising secretary of Baghaichhari PCJSS, speculated that the murder could have been due to internal conflict of PCJSS (MN Larma).

Muhammad Ashraf Uddin, officer-in-charge of  Baghaichari Police Station, said they recovered the body and  sent it to a hospital for  autopsy.

No case was filed yet, he added.
