One killed as truck rams motorcycle

A man was killed in a road accident in the capital’s Jatrabari area early yesterday.

Tariqul Islam Imon, 35, was an employee at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). He used to work at the ticket-counter of the hospital’s outdoor department.

Officer-in-Charge Mazharul Islam of Jatrabari Police Station said while returning home on a motorcycle around 1:00am, a truck rear-ended Tariqul in Shah Masjid area of Narayanganj and ran away.

Locals took him to DMCH. He died there after an hour, the OC said, adding that the body was handed over to the family without an autopsy.

Police could not arrest the driver of the truck or, seize the vehicle till the filing of the report at 9:45pm.
