‘Neo-JMB IT den’ busted in Savar

Police yesterday busted a den of “Neo-JMB” and arrested a female member of the militant outfit in Ashulia’s Gokulnagar area on the outskirts of the capital.

Police also seized bomb-making materials, crude bombs, sharp weapons, three toy pistols, and computer equipment.

The arrestee Shaila Sharmin, 25, is the wife of militant suspect Tanvir who is a student of Jahangirnagar University and an IT expert. Police are looking for him, said Maruf Hossain Sarder, superintendent of police in Dhaka.

Being tipped off about a militant den, police raided a two-storey building in the evening, he told reporters at the scene after the raid. 

The suspects rented a flat on the ground floor of the building one-and-a-half-month ago had been using it as an     IT branch of “Neo-JMB”, Maruf said.

Around 4:00pm yesterday, police cordoned off the building owned by Saudi expatriate Akter Hossen. The raid ended around 9:00pm.

A case will be filed in this regard, Maruf said.
