Moinuddin Abdullah new ACC chief

Managing Director of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah has been appointed chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Besides, former chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Jahurul Haque has been made commissioner of the ACC.

The Cabinet Division yesterday issued a gazette notification in this regard. On January 28, the Cabinet Division had formed a five-member selection committee to pick a new ACC chairman and a commissioner.

The tenure of the current commission will expire on March 16.

Moinuddin, a former senior secretary to the agriculture ministry, will enjoy the status of a judge of the Supreme Court Appellate Division. Jahurul on the other hand will have the status of a judge of the High Court Division.

Moinuddin began his career in public service as a magistrate in 1983. In August 2018, he retired as a senior secretary in the agriculture ministry.

Earlier, he was the secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, and secretary/secretary in-charge of the industries ministry.

From May 2009 to May 2010, Moinuddin looked after the affairs of the Prime Minister's Office in the capacity of director general.

He earlier served as the assistant private secretary at the chief adviser's office.

Jahurul, a former sessions judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court, was the chairman of BTRC between January 2019 and December 2020.

He served as legal commissioner of BTRC for about three and a half years.
