Madrasa teacher held for ‘raping 7-year-old girl’

A Jashore court sent a madrasa teacher to jail on charge of raping a seven-year-old girl in Bhaberber village in Benapole yesterday.

The arrestee is Salman Rafasi, 35, of Bhaberber Madrasa.

The victim was admitted to Jashore General Hospital in a critical condition.

Quoting the girl, her father said she went to Bhaberber Madrasa around 9:00am yesterday. Salman asked other students to go home. He then asked the girl to stay and raped her.

The father said when her daughter returned home, she started crying and told her mother about the incident, he said.

He then lodged a complaint with Benapole Port Police Station.

Police detained four teachers of the madrasa for interrogation.

When the girl was shown photos of the four teachers, she identified Salman Rafasi as her rapist.

Police arrested Salman and released the three others.

Later, a case was filed against Salman with Benapole Port Police Station.
