Ex-AL leader murdered in Noakhali

A former union-level Awami League leader was murdered in Noakhali’s Companiganj upazila on Saturday night.

Sohrab Hossain, 50, was the former president of Char Elahi Union’s Char Balua ward in the upazila. 

Abdur Razzak, chairman of the union, said some 10 criminals wearing masks beat up Sohrab and then slit his throat when he was returning home.  

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Noakhali General Hospital morgue for an autopsy early yesterday, said Rabiul Haque, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Companiganj Police Station. 

Police are trying to identify the killers, he said.
