PREPARATION OF ELECTORAL ROLLS BEGINS

The preparation of electoral rolls for the first general election to be held in independent sovereign Bangladesh began throughout the country today. President Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury and Prime Minister Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman are enrolled as voters in the morning.

The electoral rolls are being prepared under the Bangladesh Electoral Rolls Order 1972 and Bangladesh Electoral Rolls Rules 1972. Bangabandhu, who has been attaching great importance to timely completion of the task of electoral rolls preparation, repeats his assurance to the Election Commission that his government would give all cooperation to it for fulfilling its task.

BANGABANDHU MEETS EDITORS

Bangabandhu has an informal meeting with the editors of the newspapers and news agencies today evening at the Gono Bhaban. He holds a free discussion with the editors about the government's outlook and various problems of the country.

NURUL HASAN CALLS ON BANGABANDHU

Indian Education Minister Nurul Hasan calls on Bangabandhu today at the Gono Bhaban. After his half-hour discussion with the prime minister the Indian minister tells the newsmen, "This is a privilege for me to meet such a great leader whom we, the Indians, looked upon as the head of a great struggle. We share his idea of democracy, socialism, secularism and nationalism."

He adds that the details of the cooperation and exchange in the field of education between India and Bangladesh would be finalised in the ministerial level talks.
