Dhaka Int’l Folk Fest begins today

The fifth edition of Dhaka International Folk Fest is scheduled to begin today at Bangladesh Army Stadium in Dhaka.

A total of 200 artistes from six countries around the world would perform on the same stage during the three-day-long festival, which would start at 6:00pm and continue until midnight from November 14 to November 16.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen would inaugurate the festival as chief guest. Among others, Anjan Chowdhury, chairman of Sun Foundation and Sun Communications Limited, would also attend the inauguration ceremony.

Among the artists, Shah Alam Sarkar, Fakir Shahabuddin, Chandana Majumdar, Kajol Dewan, Malek Kawal, Kamruzzaman Rabbi, Shafikul Islam and Bhabna Nritya Dol from Bangladesh would perform.

Daler Mehndi from India, Junoon and Hina Nasrullah from Pakistan, Sattuma from Russia, Chveneburebi from Georgia, Habib Koité & Bamada from Mali would also share the same platform to celebrate the spirit of folk music at the festival.

Sun Foundation has initiated the festival which would be telecasted live on Maasranga Television.
