Child raped by madrasa teacher in Teknaf

A madrasa teacher was arrested on charges of raping a nine-year-old student in Teknaf on Thursday.

Nurul Haque, aged about 32, raped the girl in an empty classroom around 4:00pm, her parents said.

The girl came back home from the madrasa, bleeding and in pain, and told her mother what had happened.

Abdur Rahman Chowdhury, medical officer of a hospital where she is being treated, said, "She has lost a lot of blood because of her injuries."

The accused was trying to hide, but police arrested him within hours, said Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.
