BCL leader shot dead in Teknaf

A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League was shot dead in Teknaf over what police said was his enmity with two local men.

Mohammad Osman Sikder, 30, was the vice president of Teknaf Chhatra League, police said.

He had rivalry with Mohammad Saker and Kefayet Ullah. Saker is the son of former union parishad chairman Mohammad Abdullah, said Mohammad Nurul Bashar, general secretary of Teknaf Awami League.

Osman recently filed a complaint against the duo with police after he was injured in an attack, he added.

Osman was going to a mosque early yesterday when he got shot. Hearing gunshots, locals rushed to the scene and took him to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex where doctors pronounced him dead.

Doctor Ayub Hossain said Osman had been shot three times.

His body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Police are looking for the suspects, said Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.
