Bangabandhu greets October Socialist Revolution

FRIENDSHIP WILL BE STRENGTHENED

Prime Minister Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman today sends greetings to the government and people of the Soviet Union on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. In a message to the Soviet prime minister, Bangabandhu says, "This day which led to the emergence of the first Socialist State continues to inspire the progressive and peace-loving people all over the world. I take this opportunity to express our gratitude for the great support by the government and the people of the USSR during our War of Liberation and the assistance provided by the government of USSR in the task of rebuilding our economy."

He further says, "We feel confident that the bonds of friendship and understanding existing between our two countries will continue to be maintained and further strengthened." 

SAMAD TALKS WITH WINZER

Official talks between the German Democratic Republic and the People's Republic of Bangladesh open today in Berlin. They cover current international problems and questions pertaining to the further development of bilateral relations in all spheres. The GDR delegation is headed by Foreign Minister Otto Winzer while Foreign Minister Abdus Samad leads the delegation of Bangladesh. 

BANGLADESH ADMITTED TO COLOMBO PLAN

Bangladesh today is unanimously admitted to the Colombo Plan by the Consultative Committee of the Organisation, which is currently meeting in New Delhi. South Vietnam, which had been objecting to Bangladesh's membership since the preparatory stages of the 22nd Colombo Plan Consultative Committee meeting, raised its voice of dissent at today's ministerial level meeting also but finally withdrew its objection after 12 countries supported Bangladesh.
