Actor KS Firoz no more

 Noted actor KS Firoz, who was admired for his work in theatre, radio, television and cinema, passed away from Covid-19 infections yesterday morning at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

He was 74.

The news was confirmed by senior actor Ahsanul Haque Minul, who previously served as the organising secretary of the Actors' Equity Bangladesh.

K S Firoz entered the television industry in 1968 with the tele-fiction Tobuo Deep Jole. In his decades-long career, he has worked in over 500 tele-fictions and drama serials.

He founded the theatre troupe -- Amambagh troupe, who are known for their productions like Sathghater Kanakori and King Lear. His first film was Laawarish and he had since played significant roles in many other movies including Bashi, Brihonnola, and Chandragrahan, among others.

K S Firoz has also served in the Bangladesh Army, retiring as a Major in 1977.

He left behind his wife and three daughters.

The actor will be buried today at the Banani Military Graveyard after his Namaz-e-Janaza.
