5 sent to jail for rape in Gazipur
Another sued in N’ganj
A court in Gazipur yesterday sent five youths to jail in connection with rape of an actress, while a man was sued for raping his sister-in-law in Narayanganj.
Jahangir Alam Shuvo, Sumon, Rushel Talukder, Jahir and Sahabul Islam Aijol are aged between 25 to 30 and residents of Kashimpur area of Gazipur city.
Police said the accused on Sunday took the girl to an abandoned house luring her with opportunities in acting on a YouTube series. They gang-raped her there and at one point, the girl managed to flee.
On Tuesday night, the victim filed a case against the youths with Kashimpur Police Station.
Police produced the accused before a court, which sent them to jail yesterday, said Mahbub-E-Khoda, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.
In Narayanganj, a 40-year-old was sued yesterday on charge of raping his sister-in-law in Araihazar upazila.
Police said the victim was cleaning her yard on February 1 morning when the man called her to his room and raped her.
The man threatened the victim with life if she divulged the incident.
The victim shared the incident with her husband, who filed the case.
The man has been on the run since, said Nazrul Islam, OC of Araihazar Police Station.
