32 more die, 1,567 infected

Thirty-two Covid-19 patients died and 1,567 new cases were detected in the 24 hours preceding 8:30am yesterday.

This took the total death toll to 4,913 which is 1.41 percent of all confirmed cases, said a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

As of yesterday, the total number of confirmed cases was 3,47,372.

Yesterday's new cases were reported after testing 13,170 samples. The positivity rate was 11.90 percent and the overall positivity rate stood at 19.20 percent.

Bangladesh is currently 15th in the list of worst-affected countries in the world in terms of the number of cases.

The position is one step ahead of Saudi Arabia and one step behind the United Kingdom, according to worldometer.info.

As 2,051 Covid-19 patients recovered in those 24 hours, the total number of recoveries rose to 2,54,386 which is more than 73 percent of all confirmed cases.

Seven of the deceased yesterday were female and 25 were male.

One of them was aged between 11 and 20 years, one between 21 and 30, one between 31 and 40, four were between 41 and 50, eight between 51 and 60 and 17 above 60.

As of yesterday noon, a total of 3,034 Covid-19 patients were undergoing treatment at general beds and 294 in ICU beds in the Covid-19 designated hospitals across the country, according to a press release.
