2 cops hurt during arrest drive

Two police officers got stabbed during an attack by a former Chhatra League leader, who is also an alleged drug dealer, in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj last night, police claimed.

Uttam Kumar, officer-in-charge of Nabiganj Police Station, and Fakruzzaman, sub-inspector of the same police station had been hospitalised.

Uttam was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated while Fakruzzaman was receiving treatment at Nabiganj Upazila Health Complex.

The incident took place around 7:00pm when a police team raided the house of Sohan Ahmed Musa, former vice-president of the Nabiganj BCL, to arrest him, police claimed.
