11 die after showing Covid-19 symptoms

At least 11 people died after showing Covid-19 symptoms in Cumilla and Satkhira in the last two days.

Eight of them breathed their last at Cumilla Medical College Hospital. 

According to the hospital authorities, three died in 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday and five others from 8:00am Saturday to 8:00am Sunday.

The victims, residents of different parts of the district, were admitted to the hospital with fever, cold, and breathing difficulties. They were aged between 22 and 85, said Dr Mojibur Rahman, director of the hospital.

With the eight, 213 people have so far died at the hospital. Of them, 177 breathed their last with coronavirus symptoms and 36 after they tested Covid-19 positive since April.

The hospital authorities said 11 new patients were admitted to the Covid-19 unit in the last 24 hours as of 8:00am yesterday. Ten patients were discharged during the period.

At present, there are 118 patients at the unit. Of them, 53 are coronavirus positive and 65 show symptoms.

A total of 1,082 patients have so far admitted to the hospital after the coronavirus outbreak. Of them, 766 have already been released. 

In Satkhira, three people died with coronavirus symptoms at Satkhira Medical College Hospital yesterday.

The victims, residents of different parts of the district, were admitted to the hospital with fever and breathing problems, said Manas Kumar Mondal, a physician of the hospital. 

Samples of one of the deceased were earlier sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for test, the physician said, adding that after his death, they got the results that showed the victim was Covid-19 positive.

At least 37 people have so far breathed their last with coronavirus symptoms in the district.
