Man dies by 'suicide' after 'killing' son, daughter

A man has allegedly committed suicide after killing his son and daughter following a family feud at Raipura upazila in Narsingdi.

Police recovered the bodies near a graveyard at Tulatuli village yesterday morning.

The deceased were identified as Kazal Mollah, 32, his daughter Kakoli Akhter, 8, and son Sohan Mollah, 5.

Kazal's wife Fahima Khanam said she had an altercation with her husband over some money on Thursday.

Following the feud, Kazal along with his two children went out of the house around 10:30 that night.

Locals found Kazal's body hanging by a tree and his children's bodies in a pond around 8:30am.

Sub-Inspector Kamal of Raipura police said Kazal might have drowned his two children and then committed suicide.

Quoting family members, SI Kamal said Kazal, who was an auto-rickshaw driver, gave Tk 6.5 lakh to one Ruhul Amin, a broker from Kishoreganj, for going to Kuwait after selling his ancestral land two years ago. Cheated by him, Kazal filed a case with Raipura police last year but did not get the court verdict in favour of him.

The bodies were sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
